I was born on August 31st 1954. I attended Hoosac Valley High School where I was the captain and MVP for my junior and senior X-Country seasons. I also ran Track for 2 seasons where I was lucky enough to have Jim Fassel as my coach. Along with a great knowledge of the sport, coach exemplified what coaches should be. He had great faith in each of us and put the individuals
above the sport itself .Coach would push us to our physical limits and then ask for just a ittle bit more. "Thanks Coach"  As HVHS two miler I made All Western Ma. both years I ran. My love for running and competing was born.
After High School I attended Berkshire Community College, for two years I ran X-Country with a perfect  16 and 0 record in dual meets. I transfered to UMass Amherst were I ran X-Country and Track. I learned humility as I was no longer the superstar but just one of the pack.  With the help of two All Americans we went on to win The Yankee Conference Championship. We had 15 runners who could run sub 5 minute miles for 5 miles. Our coach would split the team and run two different meets in the same day and win both. "those were the days" While in college I ran a PR of 4:07 forthe mile run. It was fast but not quite fast enough.
My love for racing and competing continued after graduation in the then AAU now the TAC. Over the next 4 decades I compiled 198 career overall  road racing wins plus 100 or so age  group titles.  Visit my stats page.
